Hi "ARE YOU SAD" Visitors,
It is only early September, but it is already dark when I get up in the morning. Really, I guess that is normal because nearly every day I am wakening at 5:30 to get ready for work. Well, this year I decided to act! I have started to use my SAD light already! I have it set to the light alarm only so that when I wake up it is on, and my room is lighted instead of totally dark. I think this makes it easier to get out of bed, and helps me start the day in a better mood. Let me know what you think of the idea. Have you started using your light already this year?

SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a mood disorder associated with depression and related to seasonal variations of light.   (Mental Health America, 2012)
More that just “the winter blues” SAD is a depression that occurs each year at the same time during the winter months and ends with the advent of spring or early summer.   (Cleveland Clinic, 2008)
SAD is winter depression, severe enough to meet criteria for clinical depression, developing for at least two consecutive winters, with full remission of depression in the spring and summer.   (Rosenthal et al., 1984)
